SPH Tops Annual HR Awards (BT)

SINGAPORE Press Holdings (SPH) scooped up seven awards at the annual Singapore HR Awards 2012 last night.

This included the top award – the Corporate HR Champion – which it also won last year and in 2008.

IBM Singapore, the Institute of Technical Education, Sentosa Leisure Group, together with SPH, clinched the top organisational Corporate HR Award.

SMRT Corporation also won a number of awards for its perseverance and improvements made to current practices, and the dedication shown by its staff during the recent train breakdowns, said the judges.

Organised by the Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI), the annual awards recognise organisations and individuals for having good human resource (HR) practices.

As the Corporate HR Champion, SPH is the overall winner of the year.

SPH also won awards in learning and human-capital development, HR communications and branding, and a special mention in E-HR management. It also won special awards for corporate social responsibility and fair employment practices.

Mable Chan, SPH's executive vice-president of human resources, said: "Human capital is our best asset, and we will continuously strive to improve our HR policies and practices to help motivate and develop our staff to meet their career development goals and our company's business challenges."

Added chief executive officer Alan Chan: "We will continue with our efforts to develop and build an effective team of human capital in our organisation."
