BackAug 28, 2010

THE New Paper, a daily tabloid owned by Singapore Press Holdings, combined its creative and marketing talent to clinch a Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers' Association (Panpa) award.

It won the award yesterday in the Marketing – Sponsorship category for its comprehensive guides to Singapore's night scenes titled: "Nights on Orchard Road" and "Bright Lights Bras Basah/Boogie on Bugis Nights".

It was honoured at the Panpa's Newspaper of the Year awards gala dinner in Sydney. The New Paper editor Dominic Nathan said they were delighted with the win as it was a challenging project for the creative team. "We are glad that we have been recognised by industry peers for our efforts," he added.

Meanwhile, over in cyberspace, SPH's websites won 29 awards at the Hitwise Top 10 Singapore Rankings. Hitwise ranks the 10 most popular local websites across 160 categories, based on the number of user visits. The awards are given twice a year.

AsiaOne.com was SPH's biggest winner, nabbing seven top 10 rankings in total, with two sections ranked first: SoShiok (food and beverage) and Health.

Mr Adrian Tay, editor of AsiaOne, said the website is "continually reinventing itself" and trying to connect with its readers by having enriching content.

Other top winners in their respective categories include Hardwarezone.com, STOMP, ST701.com and Zaobao.com.
