SPH websites bag five Asia Interactive Awards (ST)

SINGAPORE Press Holdings (SPH) websites, together with mobile service provider Rednano Locate, clinched five awards at the Asia Interactive Awards 2009 held at the Host@Clarke Quay last Thursday.

Leading the way was Stomp's Star Blog section, which won a silver award for the Best Blog covering Advertising, Marketing or Media Subjects. Stomp, or Straits Times Online Mobile Print, is Asia's leading citizen journalism website. won a bronze award for Best Media Site, while AsiaOne was awarded a bronze in the Ease of Navigation category.

SPH also netted two bronze awards in the Most Creative Use of Mobile Media category. The wins went to The Straits Times RazorTV for its iPhone application, and to local search and directory engine for Rednano Locate.

SPH digital media editor Felix Soh said: 'It is quite a feat for news websites to clinch four awards in a competition that is dominated by advertising agencies and marketing companies.

'This shows that SPH news websites are on the right track when it comes to working with advertisers to attract eyeballs. We are connecting with both advertisers and users.'

Mr Paul Jansen, chief executive officer of SPH Search, the company behind, said the award was 'gratifying, as is the growing number of users of Locate, and the expanding pool of advertisers'.

Rednano Locate provides users with instant and detailed information on businesses and services in their immediate vicinity.

Into its fourth year, the Asia Interactive Awards aims to encourage good work by designers and online professionals. It is organised by AdAsia, and submissions were judged by distinguished professionals from around the world.

AsiaOne, The Straits Times RazorTV and Stomp have been ranked among the top 10 most visited websites in Singapore by online research company Experian Hitwise.

In the last month alone, there were six million unique visitors to these three sites.
