DIRECTORY publisher and online directory search engine provider Global Yellow Pages (GYP) yesterday signed a licensing agreement with Singapore Press Holdings unit SPH Search.

Under the non-exclusive licensing agreement, GYP will give SPH Search access to its database of business listings for reproduction and use on SPH's local directory search engine red will tap GYP's database to enhance its own. Under the terms of the agreement, GYP will provide SPH Search with data that includes information on Singapore companies with new fixed telephone lines, as well as Singapore companies that are no longer listed in directories. It will also provide updates.

The agreement will run until June 30. The two companies are exploring a longer-term arrangement.

Paul Jansen, CEO of SPH Search, said: 'Our fast- growing directory search service will use GYP's listings as additional inputs for our own extensive database of information on local businesses.'

In March, GYP tied up a non-exclusive licensing agreement with Media- Corp. Under this, Media- Corp can reproduce and use GYP data on Media- Corp's online classified advertising platform Mocca on a revenue-sharing basis.
