SINGAPORE Press Holdings (SPH) has emerged as the biggest winner for the second consecutive year at Ifra's Asia Media Awards.

At a gala dinner held in Kuala Lumpur last night, publications of the Singapore media group took home 11 awards in all. The Straits Times (ST) led the winners with five awards across four categories, while Berita Harian (BH) and The New Paper each won two awards. The Business Times (BT) and SPH's magazine Her World also won an award each.

Ifra is the world's leading association for newspaper and media publishing, with more than 3,000 members from the industry around the world. The Ifra Asia Media Awards is the publishing industry's platform for recognising and rewarding excellence, creativity and innovation among newspapers and magazines in Asia and the Middle East.

In all, SPH clinched two golds, five silvers and four bronzes for overall excellence in design, infographics and photography.

SPH's newspapers swept half of the six Asian Newspaper Colour Quality Awards, formerly known as the 'Best in Print' awards. BH and BT came in first and second respectively in the category for newspapers with circulation below 100,000 copies, while ST won a bronze for newspapers with circulation exceeding 100,000 copies. SPH photographers also picked up the top three awards for best in photography in the feature photography category.
