SINGAPORE Press Holdings (SPH) yesterday said four stocks will be dropped from the Straits Times Index (STI) and six new ones added next week.

SPH, the administrator of the benchmark index, said the four stocks that will be dropped next Monday are BIL International, Dairy Farm International Holdings, Haw Par Corporation and TPV Technology.

The six stocks that will be added to bring the number of components to 50 are Thai Beverage Public Company, Suntec Reit, Olam International, Genting International Public, Labroy Marine, and CapitaCommercial Trust.

The changes follow the latest scheduled review of component stocks of the STI.

'The main criterion used in this review of component stocks was liquidity as measured by the average daily value traded over one year,' SPH said in a statement. 'Market capitalisation and free float were also taken into account.'

The weight factors of several index stocks will also be updated on Monday to reflect corporate actions that have taken place. With these changes, the 50 stocks in the STI capture 51 per cent of the average daily value traded on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) and 64 per cent of the market value of stocks listed on SGX.
