ST701 wins 7% market share among job websites

Year-old platform's page views growing at double digits in percentage terms.

ONLINE job portal ST701 has garnered a 7 per cent market share of hits among employment sites in Singapore since it started a year ago. The website, with more than 70,000 members, now attracts over 110,000 unique visitors - those who visit a website more than once within a period of time - every month.

It is widely regarded that the strong economy, with its positive spillover effect on the Singapore employment scene, has led to more active recruiters.

The number of page views per month for ST701 - now at more than 2.3 million - is growing at double digits in percentage terms, said Ms Elsie Chua, the senior vice-president of classified advertisements, which is part of Singapore Press Holdings' marketing division.

'The results achieved so far only spur us on to do even better and to offer more services for both job seekers and employers,' she said.

The portal, which matches job seekers and employers, lists more than 6,500 positions offered by a range of local and foreign companies, statutory boards and government ministries.

Ms Chua added: 'We have connected with fresh job seekers, and employers have benefited from an online site that offers a sophisticated candidate-matching technology.

'Additionally, employers are able to showcase their newspaper advertisement alongside their online job posting, giving additional credence to their employer brand.'

Plans are under way to expand ST701's market share by continuing its marketing efforts in print, online and outdoor media, and by forging partnerships.

ST701 also wants to be more than just a job portal.

Besides finding the right jobs for people, the site has started organising professional development workshops and seminars at least once a month on topics such as resume writing, interview techniques, personal branding and creative thinking.

Its members enjoy discounted prices when they attend these sessions.

The job portal is also working with Asia Professional Speakers Singapore, a body for professional speakers, to run workshops under the ST701 brand alongside top-notch local and international speakers and trainers.

Users can also look forward to buying and selling property, vehicles and personal products and services at the site - www.st701.com.sg - later this year.
