THE classified section of The Straits Times was reborn earlier this week with a snazzy look and new features.

The revamp of CATS Classified is designed to help readers find what they are looking for, said executive vice-president Elsie Chua.

'Classified listings have evolved through time due to changing market demands,' she said, citing an increase in rental property listings as an example.

Beyond the revamped cover page, CATS is introducing new classifications, such as franchise opportunities, graphic design services and counselling and psychological care.

Advertisers can now add colour to their listings as well. The section will also host a slew of promotions and events to go with the makeover.

On Sept 13, post-secondary students and adult learners can suss out opportunities at the Learning For Success education fair at Suntec City.

At The New Paper Wedding Planner showcase next Friday to Sunday, also at Suntec, couples can take part in a wedding cake-eating contest and watch a bridal fashion show.

In the CATS Classified Food Festival, on now till Nov 8, customers who spend $20 and above at designated restaurants - like Seafood Paradise and Kampung Chicken Eating House - could win a Chery QQ Hatch car or a Chery T11 SUV.

Shoppers at participating home decor outlets could win $20,000 worth of prizes if they spend $50 or more between Sept 19 and Nov 29.

Details of both contests can be found in CATS Classified.
