SINGAPORE'S local search and directory service rednano.sg has boosted its collection of Singapore-themed images through a tie-up with Getty Images, the world's leading image provider.

Each month, Getty Images serves out 3.2b thumbnails and attracts 175m page visits.

The move allows users of rednano.sg - which was launched by online search and directory company SPH Search in March this year - a bigger and more extensive database of Singapore-themed images. SPH Search is a joint venture between Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) and Norwegian media group Schibsted ASA.

To further expand its image database, rednano.sg also has a separate collaboration with WhosGoing.sg, a party community portal that provides image records of the local night clubbing scene.

Paul Jansen, rednano.sg CEO, said: 'Our rednano.sg users include readers looking for news, professionals doing research, and students working on school projects. By working with a leading and reputable partner like Getty Images, rednano gives users access to many more archived and current photos and images about Singapore.'

The first phase of the partnership with Getty Images centres on Singapore-themed images and will subsequently extend its coverage to Asian-themed photos and images.

Getty Images is the world's first company to license imagery via the World Wide Web. Each month, Getty Images serves out 3.2 billion thumbnails (of photos) and attracts 175 million page visits.

These two collaborations alone would boost rednano.sg's image bank by more than 800,000 Singapore-themed records.

rednano.sg's image collection covers multiple genres such as news, sports, entertainment, local celebrities and famous personalities.

Meanwhile, Rednano Mobile, the mobile platform of rednano.sg, will launch its location-based service Rednano Locate. This enables users to find services and companies nearest to them with ease. This is Rednano Mobile's third product, following the launch of its WAP service in March and SMS service in July.
